For more than 35 years, Danny Perkins has explored the relationship between color and form—first as an internationally recognized glass artist and now as a painter. His paintings engage with the tradition of Abstract Expressionist Color Field painting, exploring the expressive power of color in the absence of representational form.

For Perkins, color carries emotion, memory, cultural meaning, and personal experience. By making color his primary subject, he invites viewers to connect with their own internal and emotional landscapes. His use of the horizon line creates a sense of order within an often-chaotic world while offering an accessible point of entry into the work. At the heart of his abstractions are drama, movement, and hope—always hope.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Perkins was raised in Oklahoma in an orphanage on the Cherokee Nation. As an adult, he lived in the Bay Area before moving to Washington State, where he established a career exhibiting nationally and internationally. His work is held in museum collections throughout the country. He now lives and works in Tucson, Arizona.
